Opening of the first semicentralized Water Supply and Treatment Center in Qingdao

In the Newsletter of the Specialist Group on Water Reuse of the International Water Association from August 2014 an article was published about the first opening of the STC in Qingdao.

"Worldwide, urban growth involves an increasing consumption of basic resources, resulting in serious consequences for infrastructure, water supply as well as the treatment and disposal of wastewater andsolid wastes. In many fast growing cities local water resources are insufficient to supply the population with safe drinking water. Due to insufficient or non-existent treatment facilities for wastewater and waste, the environment as well as the quality of life is at risk. In order to meet these challenges, concepts that facilitate increasing resource efficiency are needed."
