Prof. Cornel hosts Workshop at IWA World Water Congress in Busan

The workshop deals with the present and future challenges in technical infrastructure development caused by urban growth and its celerity. The challenge arises from water scarcity on the one hand, caused by pollution and urban growth, and by rising energy needs in urban regions, on the other hand. Can we handle this “hunger for resources” with our present infrastructure solutions? What are the limitations of today’s systems and what do we need to do differently in future in order to meet the current challenges successfully? May other solutions in spatial and technical contexts offer more efficient alternatives?

Presentations and panel discussion given by Glenn Daigger (IWA Prasident, USA), WANG Xiaochang (Xian University, P.R. China),Kalanithy Vairavamoorthy (School of Global Sustainability, Florida), Steven Kenway (University of Queensland, Australia),   Martin Weyand (BDEW German Association of Energy and Water Industries,CEO Water and Wastewater) and Peter Cornel  (SEMIZENTRAL - Institute IWAR, Germany).
